The baked cookies should be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. This practise took place over the whole of the British Isles, not just Scotland. These biscuits were made from left-over bread dough that was sometimes sweetened and dried out in the oven to form a hard, dry rusk. Using most of these will help produce the perfect Christmas Cookies.Īccording to British Food History – Dating back to the 12 th century, shortbread was originally called biscuit bread. To keep the cookies from spreading it is best to beat the butter and sugar just until combined and not creamed (of course this also depends on the type of cookie), for some cookies including some icing sugar in the mixture also keeps the cookies from spreading.Īnd probably most important of all, is to use a higher protein flour with at least 11.5- 12% protein count.Īnd don’t forget to chill the dough for at least 1 hour and again the cut out cookies before baking while the oven is pre-heating. To add a twist I even topped a couple of big stars with some Nutella and one with jam, then put some crumbled up dough on top and then baked them. It also helps keep the dough from spreading. I have recently discovered that a lot of people add corn starch (my Mom’s fourth ingredient) to cookie and cake recipes, the reason is because it adds softness to the finished cookie or cake. Why do you add Cornstarch to Shortbread Cookies? What is the best flour for cut out Cookies?īe sure to use a high protein, at least 11.5 – 12%, my flour is about 13%, a low protein flour will cause the cookies to spread, and believe me refrigerating the dough will not help. Because brown sugar can increase spreading in cookies it is a good idea to chill the dough and the cookies before baking. What does brown sugar do in shortbread?īrown sugar will make a softer cookie and a subtle caramel flavor. Powdered sugar will help keep the cookies soft for longer and it helps to keep the cookies from spreading while baking. I wouldn’t add more butter, it just takes kneading and I found that the mixer does not bring it together, you need to get in there with your hands”. Completely kneading by machine can make the dough tough and dry.Īs a reader Trina, stated “The dough does come together with elbow grease. I would only knead up to a point, when the dough just starts to come together (or even better, very coarse crumb mixture) and then knead the dough by hand. As the song ends, and the next starts, we are transitioned into a guitar and drum beat accompanied by a simple trumpet melody. The auto-tune adds to the uneasy listening, and makes you stop and listen to the song and words. Near the end of the song, we are teleported into an auto-tune, off-putting area, which I didn’t like on my first few listens, but grew on me. The album opens with the first song, “Where the Money Flows,” a spacy, vibey, song with soft vocals commenting on capitalism and demonetization, the disaster that occurred in India in 2016. Most recently, producer Baauer – who topped the US charts in 2012 with his viral track Harlem Shake – made Hate Me with Lil Miquela, an artificial digital Instagram avatar. The arrangements on Mexican composer Ivan Paz’s album Visions of Space, which sounds a bit like an intergalactic traffic jam, were done by algorithms he created himself. Pop’s chief theoretician, Brian Eno, used it not only to create new endlessly perpetuating music on his recent album Reflection but to render an entire visual experience in 2016’s The Ship. Conner believed pure boat speed would be the most important factor for success in the heavy seas and strong winds expected at Gage Roads off Fremantle. His direction to the design team was to create a boat built for straight ahead speed. Most believed this would place a greater premium on design trends established in Australia II, a boat that could turn fast and accelerate out of a tack quickly.Ĭonner chose not to follow the common reasoning. There had been no change made in the course length to be sailed, thus the distance of each leg was shorter. It was known that the course for the Cup in 1987 would have an increase in the number of legs, going from six legs to eight. In 1983 the Cup had been lost to Australia II, a wing keeled boat that was markedly quicker in stays than Liberty. She was the culmination of the team's 12 Meter design advances, the fifth boat in the Sail America Foundation stable, and the third of the new boat designs by Britton Chance Jr., Bruce Nelson and David Pedrick. Stars & Stripes 87 (US 55) was the 12 Meter challenge boat sailed by Dennis Conner in his bid to reclaim the America's Cup from the Royal Perth Yacht Club of Australia in 1987. You can get your copy of KAMEN AMERICA: STARS AND STRIFE at Indiegogo while copies last. For other ships with the same name, see Stars & Stripes (yacht). It's a fairly uncomplicated story, with an all-ages sweetness one might expect from a product marketed to younger girls, with characters who have a more adult visual appeal, sexy without being sexual. Also included in this Kickstarter/Indiegogo crowdfunded comic are character sketches and pinups. The adventure includes an epilogue that introduces Kamen America to another of creator Tim Lim's comic productions, BLACK HOPS, intimating a crossover is in the works. The artwork reinforces the manga feel, done in an overtly cute style. Power usage is accompanied by colorful naming conventions you might expect from a Pokemon battle, and conflict resolution frequently involves a dose of humor and personal empathy. KAMEN AMERICA Volume 1: STARS AND STRIFE is an American comic book done with soft manga sensibilities. And unlike Carly, Misha has been training since day one in the creative use of her powers. This puts her into direct conflict with her opposite number: Meteor Misha. With her new persona and costume in place, she finds herself heading back to Toepkekistan to put to rest a Russian insurgence that has resulted in the captivity of her friend's father. ("Mask America" would seem to be the translation.) She strikes out on her own as Kamen America, because the first word was in a television show she liked, not realizing it was Japanese. Branding her as "Warhen," they pit her against the various kaiju monsters who have begun to plague the Earth ever since the meteor shower that gave Carly her powers.Ĭarly bounces from battle to battle, until an act of kindness puts her on the outs with her representation, who own her name and costume. She's offered a job with the armed forces, but turns them down in favor of going off on her own, which unfortunately she learns comes at the cost of selling herself to trademark media vultures who control her name and image. While finishing a show in Toepkekistan, she is caught in the explosion of a strange meteor which puts her in a coma, from which she awakens with strange electrical powers. Carly's a fashion designer who loves to make her own things, and she loves to make them feminine. That's the peek we get into her mindset during an introductory scene from her childhood, before launching straight into her adult life singing and dancing for the USO. Like Linda Low in Rodgers & Hammerstein's FLOWER DRUM SONG, young Carly Vanders enjoys being a girl in an era where girls are told they should like typical girl things anymore. # Construct rasterio transform object using x and y coordiantes #x ,y and ref variables from the provided tutorial Here you can read about importing projections form the rasterio library From the tutorial it seems like it is an Lambert Conformal projection over Northern America.Īccording to the tutorial's documentation ( ) I assumed this one: (your job to make 100% sure) Your biggest challenge is making sure of the projection. Is it possible to do this with Python and rasterio?Īssuming you have another raster layer with the same CRS and dimensions, you can use a function like this to convert your numpy array to a georeferenced raster using the extent and geotransform from the input layer: import numpy as npĭef write_geotiff(array, gdal_obj, outputpath, dtype=gdal.GDT_UInt16, options=0, color_table=0, nbands=3, nodata=False): How can I get it and save this data as a raster properly georeferenced? For this I need the affine transformation (I believe). Now, I'd like to diverge from the tutorial in that I do not want to get a plot using cartopy and matplotlib, but to save a GeoTIFF image with rasterio. The matrices x and y represent the distance in meters in the zonal and meridional distances to a given point of coordinates (-85.94388888888889, 37.97527777777778). Following it, I have two matrices x and y of shape (720, 1832), and an additional matrix ref_datawith the same shape, which contains the actual data. Trying to be more precise, I'm following this tutorial to get radar data. How can I save this matrix in GeoTIFF format? The data comes originally from a known lambert conformal projection, if it helps. I'd like to write this data to make a GeoTIFF file with rasterio such that I can load it with QGIS. If you can provide a detailed explanation of your existing data and what you want to accomplish a more thorough evaluation can be performed and recommended.I have three numpy arrays, one with data, and two more with explicit longitudes and latitudes. You don't necessarily have to, must use, someonetoldmetodothis or IsawitonyoutubeandIdontknowbetter have to use a raster. Since line work (vectors entities) can also be georreferenced, there may be other, more appropriate, work flows to accomplish your task efficiently. Plex Earth will give you the ability to 'import' and 'export' world files. For example, Featured Apps Tab=>Connect to App Store=>Plex Earth 5D. You may also go to the Featured apps tab in the ribbon to search for and purchase an add-on which has the capabilitity to export to geotiff. If your drawing isn't georeferenced and a world file is created anyway, then the world file won't be an accurate reference file. Keep in mind in order to create a world file, the drawing hosting the image must be geospatially oriented to begin with. A world file can be created using AutoCAD's Raster Design (not free, it's an add on and will cost you $). The two files, the image file and the world file, work in tandem and will scale, rotate and position the image against the equator and north pole.Įxample1: MyImage1.tff and MyImage1.tfw. A world file, when it accompnies an image such as a tiff, jpeg or png, will geolocate the accompanying image. A good image cannot be accurately inserted into a bad drawing. The image, regardless of who created it, won't be inserted correctly. If the user doesn't know how to georeference or georeferences his drawing incorrectly, then no go. A geotiff has a world file built into the image itself and this built-in file allows the image to geolocate in a drawing where a user has established a georeference. Using one of these programs will allow you to export to geotiff format. You can also use Global Mapper by Blue Marble. You'll need a GIS-essy type of program to do that. AutoCAD doesn't give you the option to export an image to Geotiff. |
